Just Obey

We are not saved by obeying God’s commands but are created to obey His commands!

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15

I watched this video by Francis Chan a few weeks ago and it was a timely reminder of how often we do everything but what we are told. We study, discuss, debate, and memorize, but never DO! The reason we study, discuss, and memorize is so that we can DO, so that we can follow after Christ.

If we truly believe in the grace of God then why are we not obeying His word? Now don’t start freaking out thinking I’m saying we should be perfect. But holiness is what we strive for! The closer we get to God the more we will live as an example of His character!

This is a great video. I love the analogy of the little girl cleaning her bedroom…. how the father wouldn’t be impressed if she memorized his directions or got together with friends to discuss the Greek / Hebrew language. He’s impressed when she actually DOES what He says.

This is a great reminder… You really don’t think of it that way very often! Thanks for the challenge!
